PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA, July 31, 2007 -- Due to numerous national headlines, nearly everyone knows about Michael Vick and what his future may hold. But what about the dogs who have managed to survive the horrors of his brutal game?
Many people have had enough of dog fighting and the glorified urban thug mentality surrounding it, and some might even like to adopt a former fighting dog in order to give it a chance at having a better life.
Giving one of these beautiful animals another chance can be one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do, but also one of the most exhilarating, heart wrenching, and educational as well.
Seven years ago he rescued an abused American Staffordshire Terrier from a precarious situation, brought him home, and nursed him back to health. His name is Elvis, and to this day he is still a vital part of a happy family which also includes two other rescued dogs, a Basenji and a Chihuahua.
“While this has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, it has also been the most challenging. I know because I’ve taken one of these diamonds in the rough into my home and my life, and also helped many others,” said John King.
